Taguig City, Philippines — The New Channel was hands on in support of the Creator and Influencer Council of the Philippines (CICP). One of the youngest organizations in the communications industry, CICP is doing a round of events as the organization bounces back with more face to face gatherings. CICP successfully launched an Open House in partnership with Globe Creator House in BGC last 29 November 2023.
It’s a first of a series of CICP Open Houses, and by the looks of it: full house, robust discussions, and most important, an earnest interest from the attendees. This meaningful and intimate (by-invitation) event was attended by selected Content Creators, Influencers, Brand and Marketing Professionals who all enthusiastically engaged to the Insightful discussions on “Design Thinking Innovation-LED Creativity”.
Says Jako de Leon, current president of CICP, “The CICP Open Houses are made for creators, for influencers. It’s made for our organization and its members, where we can count ourselves in the industry alongside platforms, agencies, and brands.”
The main speaker of the event was Denise Haak, current President of Digital Marketing Association of the Philippines (DMAP) and Head of Globe Design Thinking Group. Denise focused on the path of creation and design including ideation, and the critical involvement of beta-testing and creating prototypes. These stages help product designers and creators streamline process, measure and validate the idea or product, and most importantly create pegs that allow the creator to return to the work for ways of improvement, and for scale.
According to Denise, “While you might think that product design is boring or rigidly structured, there’s a lot of fun to be had in designing products and creating experience. That’s design thinking. It’s been around for about 20 years, and it has the kind of framework that most people don’t realize can be applied to more than product design.”
Hands on event organizer Brian Dacanay of Tier One shared insight on the importance of content creators on eSports. “We all know that eSports is a big thing right now, and everybody wants to jump in on the space. But, unlike other types of sports, like the NBA and basketball, eSports players don’t own the game. eSports players can only monetize if the game publishers allow it.
This is where content creators are important because the more you create content around the game, the more the publishers are incentivized to create more esports events. There’s more community involved with content creators at the forefront. And that can lead to developing more professional eSports teams.
One of the best takeaways from the event came from Jako saying, “One of the most important thing to know is you don’t count the people you reach; you reach the people who count. At the end of the day, this is what matters. This is how you grow, and the bigger you grow you can create communities.”
The CICP Open House featured a lively and amusing Improvisation group that showed how quick thinking techniques are useful to content creation. Capping the event on a high was courtesy of KPOP on the spot dance workshop–truly a one of a kind activity that had everyone on their feet.
Fun and camaraderie = check!
Out of the box thinking = check!
