Nearly a year after the World Health Organization declares the planet free from the pandemic, women all over the globe intend to gather and engender a gender-free society. Women from all over have been pushing for an Earth that is free from prejudice, labeling and bigotry not just for themselves, but for all those included in the ever evolving — and more self-aware becoming — spectrum of gender identities.
The international community of women has been cultivating the inclusivity along with diversity and equitability because it is only within such a society that variety is not only appraised but treasured. Globally recognized feminist, activist and journalist Gloria Steinem once said, “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.”
Exclusion is not just a “they” problem, it is also not merely a “we” problem and it is not solely an “I” problem. It is a perplexity for everybody. Conscious, collective and collaborative — these are what it takes, and these are what it means to be truly free and inspired to build a gender-equal world. Consciously, women-led achievements in gender equality are celebrated. Collectively, awareness against discrimination is raised. And collaboratively, action that drives gender parity is taken.
