NEWs Update | Inclusive Tech, Greater Impact: FlutterFlow HackFest Advances SDG Innovation in the Philippines

Taguig, Philippines (November 22-23, 2024) – FlutterFlow Developer Group (FFDG) Manila facilitated its first-ever FlutterFlow HackFest: Impact Challenge, a two-day hackathon designed to showcase what Filipinos can achieve with FlutterFlow and the impactful apps they can create for social good. Using FlutterFlow, a powerful visual development platform, participants will have a unique opportunity to develop apps addressing global social challenges, furthering FFDG Manila’s mission to inspire 1 million Filipinos to join the tech industry by advancing their knowledge and skills in app development through FlutterFlow.

Empowering Filipinos to Build for Good The goal of the FlutterFlow HackFest: Impact Challenge1 is to inspire Filipinos to leverage their creativity and innovation to solve real-world problems through technology. By providing participants with the tools to build impactful apps, the event aims to strengthen the tech startup ecosystem. At the heart of the event is a 2-day challenge where teams will develop social impact apps aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

An example of how FlutterFlow can address urban challenges and support SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) is the Kaya App2, created using FlutterFlow in 24 hours and winner of the Global Audience Award at FlutterFlow’s AI for Good Hackathon3. Kaya allows citizens to report issues like traffic, waste management, and infrastructure problems, directly connecting them with local authorities. This was developed by the core team from FFDG Manila – Shad Roi de la Cruz, Jhoenil Wahid, Von Payumo, Joshua Garcia, and Hannah Mananguit. Inspired by Kaya, participants in the FlutterFlow HackFest: Impact Challenge will have the chance to build their own solutions for social impact.

The FlutterFlow HackFest: Impact Challenge will provide 15 teams the chance to develop apps in just 2 days. Event highlights include mentorship from top enterprise partners, access to exclusive swags, and PHP 100,000 in prizes. On Day 1, teams will meet at the Google Philippines office in BGC, where they will be introduced to FlutterFlow and SDG goals. Mentors will guide participants as they brainstorm and begin building their projects. On Day 2, teams will finalize their projects, refine their pitches, and present to a panel of judges. Winners will be selected based on impact, creativity, usability, and alignment with the SDGs.
