NEWs Update | Air Force Reserve unit brings health and wellness this side of Manila

Last November 23, 2024 at P Gomez Elementary School in Sta Cruz, Manila, the 12th Air Force Group of the 1st Air Force Wing (RES) held the Grand Health and Wellness Mission at the P Gomez Elementary School in Santa Cruz, Manila. Guests included Manila City Mayor The Honorable Maria Sheilah ‘Honey’ H. Lacuna-Pangan. Aptly, the Mayor Lacuna is also a medical doctor by profession.
Composed of women and men professionals in engineering, dental medicine, airline pilots, tech experts, etc, the 12AFGR regularly holds such missions, this being the second outreach in just 6 months.
The Grand Health and Wellness Mission extended medical and dental treatments, as well as free haircuts, to nearly 1,200 residents of Manila City Zone 32 and its 11 barangays. The 12AFGR also held a pop-up dispensary of donated medicines.
Aside from support of hospitals and healthcare clinics, the event garnered additional support from top brands including Philippine Star, MWell by Metro Pacific and Gardenia, among others, while McDonald’s donated food for over 70 volunteers.
Organizations that joined the event include the Advertising Suppliers Association of the Philippines, Blockchain Council of the Philippines, Creator and Influencer Council of the Philippines, and the Rotary Clubs of Metro Manila, and Greenfield District. Chezka Gonzales, co-founder of Philippine Blockchain Technologies Inc, behind Philippine Blockchain Week, and a licensed Airbus A320 commercial air pilot is a member of the 12AFGR.
Unrecognizable in military camouflage, Dr Donald Lim is the head of this band of brothers and sisters. Holding the rank of Lt. Col. Lim proudly said, “It is our distinct privilege to serve our country by helping our local government provide for the less fortunate. While we are all working professionals and entrepreneurs during weekdays, we don our military uniform on Saturdays to serve our fellow citizens by activating our connections in the private and healthcare sectors to reach out to the poorest of the poor and care for them in their time of most need,” says Lim.
