Meet the GWWR 2023 Jury
From mid-January until 18th of February, we have received about a hundred online nominations for this year and the third installment of Global Women Who RULE. It was a tough weekend for the jury and the jury secretariat as they needed to process and validate all the nominations and voted for the top names to make it to the 22 profiles this year. The 22nd slot automatically goes to the chosen beneficiary or charity partner which is The Alopecia Philippines.
The GWWR 2023 jury, which consists of profiles and core volunteers from the past years, spent almost six (6) hours online to discuss and deliberate all the nominations received. The basis for profiling a GWWR speaker has always been on these: GWWR is looking for a Filipino woman — who is big on community building and has social contribution. Family is one of her key priorities. And someone who has an exciting personality whose social voice can be used to promote social good — to which her education is established; her chosen career and her overall economic contribution.
“It feels great to be doing GWWR profiling with a bigger crowd this year and I’m glad that this time, I’ve shared this task/moment with my GWWR sisters.” As shared by GWWR founder and ideator, Apple Manansala. “It was hard enough for me to hand-pick 10 GWWR profiles to be part of this year’s jury but it was even harder for all of us to deliberate on all the lists we received.” Manansala even emphasized.
“I’m amazed to hear their stories, accomplishments, and contribution to their respective industries,” Basinillo excitedly shared in the middle of the night after the deliberation was done. “Proud to be part of this fantastic initiative, this year as juror1” Quan shared as she joins the group all the way from Singapore.
While Ermitanio excitedly shared how she appreciates her bigger contribution to GWWR this year quipping “From being one of the GWWR profiles last year to this year’s jury1”
Among the members of GWWR 2023 jury are: Lei Ermitanio, Kathy Solis-Davila, Elle Quan, Atty. Sheilla San Diego, Gladys Rondina-Basinillo, Haydee Jaldon, Ruth Butad, Celia Jacob, and Anji Cabuquid.
