The KWCPH2024 Grand Finals showcased an unforgettable night of musical brilliance and competition! On August 16, 2024, the SM City North EDSA SkyDome was filled with electrifying energy and powerful vocals as the Karaoke World Championships (KWC) Philippines Grand Finals took center stage, bringing together the KWC PH’s Final 4 for a night of incredible performances and intense competition.
KWC is known as the largest and most prestigious amateur singing competition uniting singers from all over the world. Since its inception in Finland in 2003, the competition has become a platform for singers to showcase their vocal prowess and passion for music. This year, the excitement reached new heights as The New Channel (TNC) brought KWC to the Philippines, partnering strategically with Praxis Experiential and True Creators Studio.
The New Channel (TNC) is an online alternative new media platform whose mission is to showcase Filipino talent, global influencers, and cultural innovation, creating a global community of passionate individuals who inspire and uplift each other. By hosting KWC, TNC not only aims to uphold the competition’s high standards and integrity but also to highlight the exceptional talent within the Philippines and to provide a platform for local singers to shine and be recognized internationally.
KWC Philippines Grand Finals served as the culmination of a series of qualifying rounds and auditions held across the country from July to August, bringing together regional champions from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and NCR to compete for the coveted national title. A distinguished panel of judges includes Atty. Don Carlo Ybañez, Partner at Chavez Miranda Aseoche Law Office; Rox Santos, ABS-CBN’s StarPop Label Head; Tommy Tanchangco, Sony Music Entertainment Artist Management Consultant; Elle Quan, Director for Asia Pacific of KWC who flew all the way from Singapore, together with 3 executive committee of KWC PH 2024, Mercy Joy Mesina, CEO of True Creators Studio; Gladys Basinillo, CEO of Praxis Experiential; and Apple Esplana-Manasala, CEO & President of TNC and Master Franchisee of KWC Philippines –in which through their combined expertise ensures a fair and comprehensive assessment of the finalists’ performances.
The event kicked off with an electrifying performance of “Raise Your Flag,” “Bebot,” “Noypi,” “Mahal Kong Pilipinas,” and “Sabihin Mong Ikaw Ay Pilipino”, featuring the Final 4 singing together on stage in their modern Filipiniana ensemble, setting the tone for an evening filled with talent and excitement.
Furthermore, the four finalists delivered outstanding solo performances, each showcasing their incredible vocal prowess and stage presence. From performing their winning audition songs to OPM karaoke medley songs up to the grand showdown, the variety of performances truly kept the audience on the edge of their seats. The competition was further enlivened by special performances from Hazel Faith, Pauline Anne, and Maki, adding a touch of star power to the already dazzling evening.
In a nail-biting finish, Jan Francis Alinsonorin from Visayas emerged as the grand winner, earning the title of KWC Philippines 2024 Champion. Following closely behind were Danilo Lipaopao of Luzon as 1st runner-up, Erika Anne Buensuceso of Metro Manila as 2nd runner-up, and Mary Joy Parasan of Mindanao as 3rd runner-up, respectively.
Winning this competition offers not only the prestigious opportunity to represent the Philippines but also an impressive array of prizes. Jan Francis, KWC PH 2024 champion took home an All-Expense paid trip to Finland for the Karaoke World Championships, Cash Prize from Sante Barley Max, 1-year artist management contract from KWC PH, Special Gift Pack from Hapee Toothpaste, a TV from Everest Appliances, ₱100,000 worth of various Gift Certificates from TNC partners and other special Gift Packs from KWC PH sponsors. More so, the runner-ups also received certificates, cash prizes, and Special Gift Packs from TNC partners and other KWC PH sponsors.
Jan Francis is set to represent the Philippines on the global stage at the KWC Finals in Finland this October 7th and 12th.
