These were the resounding words of master entrepreneur, Jorge Wieneke during the first day lecture of KalyeNegosyo. Jorge said, “Most of the time, we operate on a day-to-day operation basis. While having a business goal and aspirations for the year is good, sometimes, we’re not on track without even realizing it because we thought “we’re moving forward” and “we’re busy.”
Values are principles, beliefs and ideals that are important and influence decisions that people make. In the world of entrepreneurship, values are formed through environmental factors that can serve as standards. Whether one is already in business or about to open a business, it is valuable to have a foundation that can provide you a map to success. For KalyeNegosyo, value formation is critical for business owners.
KalyeNegosyo started in 2013 as a mentorship program for the street vendors in Makati and has now successfully leveled up the lives of these street vendors, legitimizing their businesses. The program has since expanded outside of Metro Manila and has helped other aspiring small businessmen as far as Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, Bulacan and Pangasinan. The sessions happen every Thursday of the month in partnership with TNC, The New Channel, PLDT and Unionbank.
